CYRRCA

CYRRCA synthesizes the power of poetry with mystic musical traditions using the mind of a transcendent seeker. His personal explorations into mythology, self-discovery and transformation merge into the kaleidoscopic sonic atmosphere of the album “CYRRCA”. The record is a contemporary epic: chiseled from grit into a hyperobject of music, events, imagery and fashion. It exists as a visual album online, a book, a pressed vinyl record, a jewelry item and as the 3D animated symbols that shimmer throughout the narrative of the work.

The album began as a collection of manuscripts, journals and poems…

The album began as a collection of manuscripts, journals and poems that were written whilst on a multi-year journey across the globe. Traveling from the Trans Siberian Railway to the Montenegrin coastline; from Rumi’s shrine in Turkey to the mountainsides of South Korea. To reflect the diverse origins of each track, the album features numerous production styles and stellar collaborations. Bringing in the ambient work of K. Leimer on the introspective “North Sea”, to the vivid tropical tone of “Temple Charm” with K-pop super producer Jinbo the Superfreak, then peeling back to the minimal vibe of Sailli on “Beograd”.

The songs on CYRRCA were released through an exhibition series that occurred every lunar cycle, aligned to the thirteen full moons of 2020. Each event focused on the aesthetics and discoveries of an individual track, and acted as an immersive music video for those in attendance. Over 50 Seoul-based artists participated in the “13 Moons Ritual Gatherings”, which includes self-guided ritual spaces, installations, photography, traditional Korean ceramics, garment design, projection mapping, hand poke tattoo, dance and music performance.
